The former President and current member of the Board of Directors of Cervim, Roberto Gaudio, was awarded to Vinitaly the Award Angelo Betti - Benemerito della Vitivinicoltura 2022 with the Medal of Cangrande, on the proposal of the Councillor for Agriculture of the Valle d'Aosta Region, Davide Sapinet.
"We reward the Dr. Roberto Gaudio for his dedication and his commitment for many decades for the support, enhancement and promotion of Valdostan viticulture, through the development and impetus given to Cervim. It also pays tribute to the efforts made to recognise heroic viticulture at national level. In fact, thanks to his work, Decree No. 6899 was finally issued in 2020, which protects the vineyards recognized as heroic, encouraging the restoration, recovery, maintenance and, ultimately, the preservation and enhancement. Thanks to him, Valdostan viticulture and, more generally, all heroic viticulture have been promoted worldwide and have thus gained the attention of the public and authoritative voices." This is the reason for the award.
To reward the Minister for Agricultural and Food Policies, Stefano Patuanelli, the Councillor for Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Aosta Valley Region, Davide Sapinet and the President of Veronafiere, Maurizio Danese.
"It is a great honor - underlines Mr Gaudio - to receive this award from Vinitaly, an award for the whole Cervim and for heroic viticulture. I thank those who have worked over the years, together with me, making a great contribution to the growth of extreme and mountain viticulture. Thanks to the regional Councillor Davide Sapinet, for the beautiful words and for having wanted to enhance the work done by Cervim. A prize that also gratifies me because it is named after a great fellow agronomist like Angelo Betti, who had a brilliant intuition making great Italian wine through the birth of Vinitaly, and who then guided the category of agronomists with great innovative spirit and foresight."
Angelo Betti, born in 1920, agronomist, was the creator of Vinitaly with the first edition in 1967 and was president of the Conaf - Council of the National Order of Agronomists and Forest Doctors, from 1992 to 1995.
